History

In 1993, Hooker Creek entered the construction industry by acquiring Moon Quarry, a sand and gravel pit east of Bend.  Eleven employees were hired and the company hit the ground running, serving the Bend area with quality aggregate products.

By 1995, Hooker Creek grew to over 30 employees and formed the Hooker Creek Trucking product line.  This division included dump, transfer, belly dump and water trucks as well as low-boy and flat bed trailers.

In 1996, O'Neil Sand and Gravel, an aggregate pit east of Redmond, was purchased.  The acquisition of this quarry more than doubled Hooker Creek's production capacity.  The employee count also nearly doubled and grew to 52.

That following year, Hooker Creek decided to branch out again and form the Equipment Rental and Concrete Accesories product lines.  The first of these stores was opened in Bend.  Stores in Redmond, Madras, La Pine, and Prineville would eventually follow.

history.jpgThe concrete world of Central Oregon was "rocked" when Hooker Creek purchased Bend Ready Mix in 1998.  In the last 8 years, Hooker Creek has grown to be the industry leader in the ready mixed concrete market with the addition of Redmond Ready Mix and Madras Ready Mix.

1999 saw even more changes in this fast-growing company.  Hooker Creek moved into their new corporate headquarters and main equipment rental/concrete accessories building on Empire Ave.  They also opened up another key construction product line: Hooker Creek Asphalt & Paving. At that time, 123 people were part of the Hooker Creek team.

In 2003, a seventh division was added to the Hooker Creek line-up: the civil construction/site development/excavation business, and 231 employees called Hooker Creek home.

2004 was devoted to the growth and expansion of the current lines.  La Pine and Madras Equipment and Supply stores were opened and the civil construction division substantially increased in their Central Oregon presence.  2005 followed the same trend with the opening of Prineville Equipment and Supply as well as the addition of new trucks to the current fleet of mixers and transfers.

Hooker Creek currently employs about  275 people and remains Cental Oregon's only locally-owned, full service construction materials provider.  We have become a fully integrated company with a diverse group of product lines.  And we are only going to continue to grow and diversify to better serve the needs of our customers.
