Important Information Regarding the Redmond 5th Street Reconstruction Project - Updated Wednesday, June 2, 2010.

As we enter the final weeks of work on the Redmond 5th Street Reconstruction Project, we would like to let business owners along 5th Street and those who must use 5th Street on a regular basis know that over the next couple of weeks, there will be times when business access and side street access will be closed or severely limited.  We strongly encourage those who normally travel through downtown Redmond using 5th Street to use alternate routes on June 11 and 14 and then during the week of June 21 - 25.
Beginning on Monday, June 7 our crews will be working north of the Y to Jackpine.  During this time the let turn lane onto Jackpine will be closed.
Hooker Creek paving crews are scheduled to lay the base lift of asphalt on the west lane of 5th STreet from Black Butte to Jackpine on Friday, June 11 and Monday June 14.  One these days business access along the west side of 5th Street between Black Butte and Jackpine will be limited.
From Tuesday, June 15 - Friday, June 18 members of our team will be installing pavers along the west side of 5th Street, installing signs, working on clean up along 5th Street and completing the final prep work for laying the top lift of pavement.  There will be normal access to 5th Street and all side streets and businesses at this time.
During the week of June 21 - 25 Hooker Creek crews will be on the road from 5 PM - 7 AM as they lay the final lift of asphalt on both the east and west lanes of 5th STreet from Glacier to Quince.  During this week, 5th Street business acess will be closed from 5 PM - 7 AM and there will only be partial access during daytime hours.

Hooker Creek Companies, LLC is pleased to be the general contractor for the Redmond 5th Street Reconstruction Project.  This very much anticipated project is an ODOT project funded by stimulus dollars.
The full scope of this multi faceted project includes removing and replacing all of the old asphalt on 5th Street between Glacier and Jackpine and the removal and replacement of much of the curb and sidewalk along both sides of this same section of 5th Street.  The  project also included replacing the old water main that, in some places, had been there since before World War II.
Hooker Creek crews began working on the project in August of 2009.   Our anticipated completion date is in June of 2010.

Highway 26 at Warm Springs

Overview:
> 14 Miles of Grind Inlay
> Over 60 Tons of Materials Moved
> Project Value Approximately $3 Million

Project Details

Work on the ODOT Highway 26 paving job out of Warm Springs began in late June and the majority of the paving work was completed within just a few weeks.  Approximately 14 miles of state highway was paved by Hooker Creek crews.  There were 11 men working nights only on the paving crew, 6 at the hot plant and two additional loader operators keeping approximately 40 trucks moving 60 tons of materials.  This was a job where our crews could only be on the roadway at night and adding to the difficulty of the job were the narrow roads and heavy traffic through the area.  No cell service also made communication among the crew challenging as well.

Facebook Data Center - Prineville Oregon

Overview:
> Project Started - January 2010
> Total Project Value - 188 Million Dollars
> Project located on 124 acres on Tom McCall Road in Prineville, Oregon

Project Details

In January 2010 headlines across Central Oregon were spreading the good news that Facebook is coming to Central Oregon.  Even before the news was announced to the general public, the buzz was spreading through Hooker Creek that our Construction and Paving Division had landed a "big job".  The code name for the project was "Vitesse" and the Hooker Creek portion of the project is approximately two million dollars.  At the time, most employees didn't know the "face" behind the name and truthfully, we didn't care.....what was important is that we landed a job that was going to put people back to work.
So, what exactly does this project mean to Central Oregon and Hooker Creek?  Well, according to Project Manager Kris Karpstein the Vitesse/Facebook project enabled Hooker Creek to bring back 10 employees who had been laid off earlier in the winter and hire an additional five construction workers.  On a much larger scale, reports indicate that this project will create approximately 200 jobs during the construction phase which is expected to last approximately 12 months.  That's a log of jobs for an area that has one of the highest unemployment rates in the State of Oregon.
What exactly is Hooker Creeks' role in the Vitesse/Facebook project?  Hooker Creek is a sub contractor responsible for all excavation work, installation of water and sewer lines, building site preparation and paving for the project.
Over the past couple of months, our team has woked hard on this project and we are happy to report that we are on schedule with our part of this exciting project.
